• LA Times Find the best-performing mutual funds of the past year or use the Mutual Fund Explorer to do a customized search to find the funds that meet your requirements.
• TheStreet.com current market indices and commentary.
• Quote.Com Most services, quotes, portfolio, charts, search by mutual fund companies, business news, etc.
• Surfrat Free stock quotes, free daily portfolio email updates, free stock picker.
• WebQuote e-mails your portfolio quotes twice a day free.
• Yahoo Stock Picks or Yahoo!Finance free research, "stock picks," etc. To use mail service, must have browser with Java enabled. A good starting point for quick updates on the Web. Yahoo's text-based appearance may lack state-of-the-art graphics. But that is what makes accessing its layered links so fast. Delayed quotes pop up quickly and the formats can be customized by the user to include more-detailed information and even performance charts. The best features are Reuters' world-class economic and markets news coverage, and Zacks Investment Research on analysts' recommendations. Simply select a stock and then click for Zacks ratings of all stocks in that same industry. Mutual-fund information is also abundant, including many funds' top portfolio holdings.
